Textile Design

Soft Creatures · EN

Soft Creatures is a collection of textile creatures, somewhere between design objects, tiny textile sculptures, and imaginary characters.

Yarn, beads, and anything that feels nice to touch or catches the light have always been my great weaknesses. I love collecting materials and playing with shapes, colours, and textures, without much of a plan.

That’s how Soft Creatures came about: a collection of crocheted bags that don’t really care about being bags. Bags in creature disguise.

I like the idea of turning a familiar object into a strange creature with a personality of its own. I’m not chasing perfection or symmetry, but expressiveness, humour, and freedom of form.

Maybe Soft Creatures is a natural continuation of my painted world. Only this time the characters have stepped out of the paintings, taken on volume, and can be taken for a walk.

Soft Creatures · RO
